For the Eagle's Heart

Eagle was held captive by leather bands on his legs. His brothers flew by scoffing at him. 'Look at your brothers flying free and feeding on dog salmon in the waters.' Eagle cried to them, 'But I am fed by my captors - all the fish I can eat!' They cried to him as they flew away, 'You are getting weak from their charity.'

Young bush pilot Jordie Halle and member of the Eagle Clan, Kotaa Hotch meet by happenstance at the annual Bald Eagle Festival in Fort Seward, Alaska. What was to have been just a change of venue for Jordie becomes a flight of discovery as Kotaa discovers in flight a means of liberating himself from painful memories.

The mythical stories and rich symbolism of the Lingit culture weave a tapestry through this compelling story of love, family and tradition set in the land of the Northern lights.
